Join NYU Alumni for a gastronomic adventure in Brussels

Itinerary:
 

DAY 1: Brussels

Upon arrival at the Brussels Airport, your local guide will greet you and take you to your hotel.On your way to the hotel, you will enjoy a panoramic city tour of Brussels and a stop for lunch.

During the panoramic tour, you will discover different districts like the Louise area famous for its designer shops, the European quarter including the European Parliament and the Commission, the Cinquantenaire urban park with its beautiful arch, the Art Nouveau district with its characteristic houses and the Heysel area that is home to the Atomium - one of the symbols of Brussels.

 

After a rest at your hotel, you’ll head to the old town center to for a guided walking excursion to discover and sample delicious Belgian chocolates. Dinner will be at a nearby restaurant.

 

Overnight in Brussels: The Dominican

DAYS 2 & 3: Brussels

Head to the Cantillon Brewery, a living museum on traditional Gueuze! Gueuze is a type of lambic, a Belgian beer. Cantillon is a brewery of lambic tradition dating back to the 19th century.

​

You will have ample free time to enjoy the city at leisure to explore the old town and some of the Belgian cafes and breweries on your own.

 

Book an excursion to Antwerp, home to the diamond district, and visit to the FX de Beukelaer which can proudly call itself one of the oldest and most famous liqueur distilleries in Belgium. Or, book the Waffle Making Workshop; Belgian waffles are famous all over the world!

 

Visit Ghent, a city made famous by the cloth business in the 13th and 14th centuries.  The city center alone is a showcase of medieval Flemish wealth and commercial success.

You’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of this lovely city that focuses on food and local products. This excursion will stop at the Great Butchers' Hall which dates back to the 15th century, when meat halls were indoor market places with centralized sales to monitor the freshness and quality of the meat.

 

Lastly, you will visit to the Gruut Brewery, one of the rare breweries to use a mix of spices, known as gruut, instead of the traditional hops. Although this brewery uses modern technology it brews its beers in keeping with the ancient traditions. Currently Gruut produces five beers: a white beer, a blonde, an amber beer, a brown beer and a beer called Inferno.

DAY 4 Brussels / Home

After breakfast, depart to Brussels Airport for your return flight home.

In the unlikely event the program is under enrolled and cannot run, all payments made will be refunded 90 days prior to departure.

Airfare to or from Brussels, gratuities for drivers and guides, alcoholic beverages with meals, personal expenses, airport taxes and baggage fees, any required passport, visa or other government entry fees if applicable, optional travel insurance.

ARRIVE / DEPART:

Please plan to arrive in Brussels by 5pm on Day 1 of the itinerary.  You may depart anytime on the final day. If you need assistance with your flights, Destination Partners air department will be happy to assist with your round-trip travel arrangements, per person ticketing fees apply.
