Itinerary

Day 1: Buenos Aires / El Calafate

For those travelers continuing on to Patagonia, after breakfast on the final day of the group program you will transfer to the airport for your flights to El Calafate. Upon arrival, you will head to a local estancia, “Alice Ranch”. A welcome tea, cakes, homemade bread and jam will serve as a good introduction to today’s visit. After tea, you will be invited to walk along the lakeshore to explore the history and culture of this traditional Argentine estancia. You will visit the ranch, watch birds at Laguna de los Pájaros, and observe sheep herding and shearing at the old ranch shed house. This amazing journey will come to an end with a typical Patagonia asado, or barbeque, and local folklore entertainment.

Overnight: Imago Hotel & Spa

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: El Calafate

After breakfast, you will depart for a full day guided excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The Perito Moreno Glacier rises majestically 80 km away from El Calafate. This is one of the largest and the only advancing glacier in the world.

Located in Los Glaciares National Park, a 600,000-hectare protected area covered by an ice mantle, you will start by penetrating the Patagonian Andean forest and make a breathtaking stop at “Curva de los Suspiros” (Curve of Sighs), where you will enjoy the first glimpse of this incredible natural wonder. You will walk down wooden catwalks stopping at panoramic points to admire this wonderful creation of Mother Nature. Varied-sized ice blocks loosen and fall with a great thunder becoming beautiful ice floes in the deep waters of the Lago Argentino. This day will be an unforgettable experience, a once in a lifetime delight.

Next you will set sail out of Bajo de las Sombras Bay Port, 7 km away from the glacier’s catwalks, and will journey to Los Témpanos Canal to admire the greatness of the glacier's southern wall.
